In short
We collect as little as we can. When you activate Keyloft, it sends your licence key, a one-way code for your Mac and your Mac's name. It never sends what you play, your setlists or your tracks. This website has no analytics and no tracking cookies. Your payment details go to Paddle, never to us. We never sell personal data.
1. Who we are
Keyloft Audio, the trading name of Isaac Tetteh, a sole proprietor based in the United States, is the controller of the personal data described here. Paddle, our reseller, is a separate controller for the payment data it collects at checkout. For anything about your data, email support@keyloftaudio.com; we'll give you our postal address on request.
2. What we collect, and why
| What | Why | Legal basis |
|---|---|---|
| Your order | From Paddle: your email address, country, order number, product and price. We use it to make and email your licence key, help you, and handle refunds and our accounts. | Our contract with you; our legal duty to keep financial records |
| Your licence key | The key, its edition (Keyloft App or Keyloft Complete), the email it was bought with, and the date. It lets you activate Keyloft, move it between Macs and upgrade it. When you check a key on our upgrade page, your browser sends it to our licence service to see whether it can be upgraded. | Our contract with you |
| Your Macs | For each Mac you activate: a one-way code made from its hardware ID (we can't work the ID out from it), the Mac's name as set in macOS, and the date. It keeps a key to 3 Macs and shows you which Macs use it. | Our contract with you; our legitimate interest in stopping keys being shared |
| The licence check | When it's online, Keyloft checks its key with our licence service at most once a day, sending the key and that Mac's code. | Our legitimate interest in keys working as sold |
| Your Keyloft | To sign in to your Keyloft page, you give your email and we email a sign-in link to it (only if it bought Keyloft). The page shows your keys and the Macs that use them, and lets you remove a Mac or have a key emailed again. | Our contract with you |
| The update check | At most once a day, Keyloft downloads a small file from this website saying what the newest version is. It sends nothing about you; like any web request, it reaches our host with your IP address. | Our legitimate interest in telling you about updates |
| Support emails | Whatever you write to us, so we can answer. | Our contract with you; our legitimate interest in helping you |
| This website | Our host, Cloudflare, handles your IP address and browser details to deliver and protect the site. We use no analytics, ads or tracking cookies. | Our legitimate interest in a working, secure website |
What we never collect: what you play, your setlists, songs, sounds, tracks, recordings or your list of plug-ins. Those stay on your Mac.
3. Checkout and cookies
Paddle runs our checkout. When you open it on our Buy page, Paddle collects your payment details, billing information and email, and may use cookies needed for payment and fraud prevention, under Paddle's privacy policy. We never see your card details. Apart from Paddle's checkout, this website sets no cookies.
4. Who we share it with
- Paddle, our reseller and Merchant of Record: payments, tax, invoices and refunds.
- Cloudflare: hosts this website and the licence service, stores licence records, and forwards our support email.
- Resend: sends the emails with your licence key and the links to manage your Macs.
- Apple (iCloud Mail): where our support inbox lives.
- Professional advisers, such as an accountant or lawyer, when we need them, and authorities when the law requires.
We don't sell or rent personal data, or share it for advertising.
5. Where it's kept
Our providers may process data in the United States and other countries. Where the law requires it, they protect transfers with safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
6. How long we keep it
- Licence records (your key, email and Macs): for as long as your licence exists, so you can reinstall and move between Macs.
- A Mac's entry: deleted when you deactivate that Mac.
- Order records: as long as tax and accounting law requires, usually up to 7 years.
- Support emails: up to 2 years after we last write to each other.
- Website security logs: kept briefly by Cloudflare, under its own policy.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to show you the personal data we hold about you, correct it, delete it, send it to you or another company, or stop or limit how we use it, and you can object to how we use it. Email support@keyloftaudio.com and we'll answer within one month. If we delete your licence record, your key stops working, so we'll check with you first. You can also complain to your local data protection authority.
8. Keeping it safe
Everything travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). We keep only what's needed: your Mac's hardware ID never leaves it, only a one-way code. Our licence records are protected by a password and kept with Cloudflare, and each Mac's activation is digitally signed so it can't be forged.
9. Children
Keyloft isn't aimed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal data.
10. Changes
If we change this policy, the date at the top will change, and we'll email buyers if the change matters.
